SHOULD I BUY A WEDDING ALBUM?
Erica and I sell a lot of albums to a lot of our clients. We love and believe in every couple having a wedding album. Albums are the physical representation of the memories you create on your wedding day. After the music settles down, all the lights and flowers are faded, after all the guests go home and the wedding cake has been digested, what do you have left from the most special day in your life? Let me give you a real-life example of what this means:
Your friends come over, you just finished putting the last touches on your new house. You are so excited for your first dinner party in your new home as a married couple. They ask the question, “Can we see your wedding album?” You think “What?”…”oh, I don’t have one. I put all the pictures on Facebook!” Facebook is awesome, but will it be there in 10 years? We have no idea. Remember Myspace? Me either, nobody does, because it died. Facebook probably won’t do that but who knows. The cloud? You could have hacked and all your images are just gone… All those things are great, but nothing replaces an album.
WHAT DID YOU DO WITH YOUR WEDDING PHOTOS?
So let’s ask you what did you do with your wedding pictures. Did you print a few of your favorites and the rest are sitting on your computer in hard drive limbo or on a USB drive that is in your junk drawer? Well, if you have children as we do, two months ago our 2-year old dropped his chocolate almond milk in our junk drawer. That was fun! I have no idea why we have half of the things we do in there, but we did have a USB of pictures from a trip we took that was unintentionally left in said drawer. Thank God every year we make an album of “Our Year” because now that USB is a soggy, shorted out paperweight. Here are a few more reasons you should invest in a wedding album.
Although it is hard to believe you could forget any moment, over the years memories fade. You may remember the rush of emotions you felt when you walked down the aisle or said your vows, you will likely forget the little nuances that made your day as special as it was. For instance, that moment when your niece chose not to walk the right direction while throwing the flowers out of her basket, or your crazy best man speech that had a few too many personal points before the toast. With an album, you can easily just flip the page to recollect those precious moments.
HOW TO KEEP YOUR IMAGES TIMELESS
Ask any couple that recorded their wedding on VHS or a DVD at this point, and you will learn a valuable lesson about the pitfalls of technological change. Those DVDs and CDs holding your images today will likely be obsolete within only a few short years. While many couples plan to have their wedding memories transferred to the next form of electronic media, the sad truth is that many never get around to it. Do not let that be you. If there is one thing that is certain, it is that traditional albums have been around for a long time. By purchasing a wedding album, you can be sure your memories are preserved no matter how much things may change technologically.
One of the best things about wedding albums is that they can make a personalized statement about your marriage. Whether you choose a leather-bound album, one covered in fabric, or even a metal album, it can make a tremendous difference in how your photos are presented. Most albums can be personalized with your favorite image, your shared name or even with a favorite photograph that you select from your special day. By choosing a cover that is personalized, you can make sure that everyone who sees your album knows the value you place on your marriage.
Family Heirlooms
Throughout our history, wedding albums have served as an essential record of a family’s history. Nowhere else can a person find so many authentic photos of relatives and friends engaged in a day full of romance and family attachments. By creating a wedding album, you will be contributing to your family history by ensuring that future generations have a tangible record of how their family came to be over time.
While it may be hard to imagine great-grandchildren so far down the road, it is likely that they could one day have your album passed down to them. Perhaps some of you have seen your grandparents album and hold it dear to your heart. There are so many incredible things to see, what type of clothes they wore, the hairstyles, or the automobiles that were at the wedding, or the other people that were at the wedding as guests or even the wedding party. These are great statements of the time period in which the wedding took place, and will help you reminisce when you are older.
Those who took the time to create a wedding album always report to us the happiness they have once they have an album to capture their memories. With your album, you can quickly show off your wedding photos and talk about your special day. Wedding albums are also a great way to revisit memories on each of your anniversaries.
Whether you are just in the planning stages of your wedding or are searching for ways to preserve photographs of your recent ceremony, it is good to know all of the reasons why a traditional wedding album is better for displaying and storing your photos than other methods.
Although we provide you with digital copies of your images, electronic media can fade. It is simply unable to provide the personalized appeal of a quality wedding album. In order to create a professional family heirloom that always brings back fond memories of your wedding, we help you choose an album that can hold all of the treasured photographs from your wedding day.
