Organic Moments Photography was recently in Cape Cod at the Wychmere Beach Club (http://wychmerebeachclub.com) for Ryan and Arielle’s dream Cape Cod wedding, and what a dream it was.
Here is a shot of Ryan and Arielle’s engagement session in Central Park In New York City. Did you know Organic Moments Photography travels extensively throughout the year, and many times our clients will plan their travel arrangements around us in order to meet us in the locations where we are staying, to get their session done.
New England weather
Let me preface this post by saying that driving out to Cape Cod from Boston was quite the adventure. While driving out to the Cape it was gloomy and rainy. Almost like a weird horror movie where it was foggy and drizzling the entire 2 hour drive. Needless to say, we were worried about how the weather was going to hold up. New England weather, as you may well know, is rather unpredictable.
I dropped Matt off with the groomsmen at the beach club to photograph the guys getting ready and I went to the house where Arielle and her bridesmaids were. I walked into the house and Sean from Harborview Studios (http://www.harborviewstudios.com) had already set up the dress and details. It is truly an awesome experience to work with videographers that know what they are doing. It makes the photographer’s job much easier and the day goes by better when you get to work with someone that knows what to do, how to do it and doesn’t think they are the only person there to capture the day. We have worked with some great video people and some not so great and Sean was a top notch professional.
As you can see from the image, Arielle’s dress from Hayley Paige (http://www.jlmcouture.com) was stunning to say the least, and Sean had it placed in this little nook that was perfect for pictures. Obviously, Arielle looked ravishing in the dress.
First Look
We got dressed and took some bridal portraits at the house and were on our way to the first look. Arielle and Ryan picked a local marina for their first look because they had a surprise entrance, probably the best one ever, planned for later and we would come back to this marina immediately after the ceremony for said surprise. We set Ryan up for the first look and Arielle arrived in the limo to see her groom. As you can tell from the images, it was still a bit cloudy and sprinkling rain. Although it was rainy, we still got the first look off. Ryan and Arielle had to have their fur baby Dozer included in their special day. We got the bridal party and family portraits out of the way before heading to the ceremony. Tuxes by Calvin Klein and bridesmaids dresses by BHLDN (http://www.bhldn.com)
Off to Wychmere.
One of the best parts about this wedding was the ceremony. Set on a beautiful wood deck leading up to the beach, the view was immaculate and breathtaking. Now, you have seen me write about the weather throughout the day, and this is where everything fell into place. As soon as Arielle stepped out to walk down the aisle, the sun pops out from behind the clouds and lights up the day. It was perfect timing and almost seemed scripted. Ryan and Arielle said their vows. Like any good wedding, it was a mixture of laughter and crying, emotion and suspense. Clearly these two were made for each other and it showed in their vows. It was, in short, beautiful.
Sail boat Entrance
As soon as the ceremony was done we were whisked away in the limo for the grand entrance. Arielle and Ryan arranged for a sail boat to take them from the marina where we did the first look back to Wychmere. Sail boat provided by Cape Sail and Captain Bob Rice. (http://www.capesail.com). Matt brought the drone out and got some amazing shots of us sailing into the Beach Club. This was one of the best grand entrances ever. All of the wedding guests were waiting for us as we arrived back at Wychmere. It was super cool for me to arrive with all these people waiting and they weren’t even there of me. I can’t imagine what it must have felt like for our bride and groom.
Ryan and Arielle also had a live band for their ceremony. The band is called Good Will & Them Apples. (http://themapplesband.com) Quite a name play on the Boston based Good Will Hunting movie. My favorite scene in any movie ever is them apples scene. I am very critical of live bands to say the least. Good Will & Them Apples is one of the best live groups I’ve experienced and were a great fit for this wedding.
I can’t say enough good things about Karen Rood with Longwood Events (http://longwoodevents.com) . She kept the day flowing without being rude and pushy. She was the perfect mix of stern and understanding. Both things which a good planner should be. If you are ever looking to get married in Cape Cod, or anywhere in New England for that matter, we highly suggest Karen and Wychmere Beach Club for your wedding needs .
Finally, Ryan’s father gave one of the most emotional father speeches you’ve ever heard ( the kind that even though these people are brand new to me, I had to hold back the frogs in my throat) , then decided to jump on the guitar with the band and rocked out. He definitely got the whole crowd going and the party just moved forward from his performance.
This was a one of the most classy and beautiful weddings that we have been a part of.
Special thanks to Ryan and Arielle Mortimer for having us at your superb wedding and Matthew Kunzman for second shooting and the drone images.
