All love stories are sweet and adorable, but then some make you think about the deeper meaning of life and the beauty of togetherness. Nicole and Tristan’s story is one of those. After Tristan proposed to Nicole, the two decided to get married at the stunning and iconic Trump National Doral Miami. It is an amazing wedding venue exuding class, luxury, and elegance, and as a wedding photographer, we can’t keep ourselves from praising this lovely golf resort. We enjoyed photographing Nicole and Tristan’s gorgeous wedding here, as we had ample opportunities to create stunning portraits with picture-perfect backgrounds.

Where they started

Before going in for the wedding at the Trump National Doral, we asked Nicole about her love story, and her words left us in awe. She told us that Tristan is a navy veteran and had served for 8 years in the navy as a hospital corpsman. He was deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Cambodia, and Spain. Tristan then enrolled at Florida State University, where she later met him. He then decided to join a fraternity after learning from his military friends that it was a great way to create relationships in school as a veteran. When joining his fraternity, he met Nicole’s brother and teased him that he would date his sister one day.

On the day of their first meeting, Nicole had gone to the Subway sandwich shop on campus, and, as she told me, she was rocking frumpy pajamas that she had changed into after a long day of her sorority’s philanthropy. When she walked into the store, Tristan happened to recognize her (interestingly, she was there with two of her friends who became her bridesmaid and her maid of honor at the wedding). He introduced himself, and they became acquaintances. Nicole told me, today when Tristan looks back to that day, he always tells her that he thought she looked beautiful even in her pajamas and her no makeup and crazy hair look. About a month or two later, a guy Nicole had asked to accompany her on a sorority function stood her up, so a friend arranged for her to have a backup date. It turned out Tristan was the one to step in and save the day. Tristan and Nicole both initially agreed that he would just casually escort her to this dance and that it wasn’t a romantic date. But within a few minutes, they just hit it off. They have been inseparable ever since.

The Precious Proposal

After 5 years, Tristan gave Nicole the biggest surprise of her life when he proposed to her under her favorite tree in the backyard of her childhood home. Nicole told me that the tree had been wiped out by many south Florida hurricanes throughout the years and always managed to grow back taller and stronger. She always thought it was a beautiful metaphor for life, and Tristan saw it as a metaphor for their life together. Today, both Nicole and Tristan agree that even with COVID and all of the difficult things that life threw at them during their engagement, they couldn’t have been more excited to be together forever!

Nicole and Tristan’s wedding venue was so fantastic that we enjoyed every bit of our day. Trump National Doral is not only a legendary golf resort but also an icon for style, service, and exclusivity. It has villa-style rooms, spa suites, tennis courts, a royal palm pool with 18 private cabanas, and a 125 feet slide. Trump National Doral also offers several luxury event venue options, such as the Grand Ballroom. Its clubhouse features the BLT prime, champions bar & grill, social spaces, a health club, some retail options, and also one of the country’s largest golf pro stores. With a venue like this, there is nothing more one can ask for.
