Paige & Zak’s Secret Gardens Miami Wedding

While we love a good old-fashioned love story with no hurdles, we have to admit that we do look forward to hearing about a romance with twists and turns, some fun, and a happy ending! Paige and Zak’s love story is one of them. Their story is super sweet, with a sprinkle of fun events that thankfully eventually brought them together. Their wedding at the Secret Gardens Miami was just as fun as their story, and we just loved photographing our beautiful couple and their guests on this special day.

Paige and Zak’s Love Story

Taking me back to how they met, Paige told me, “We met at work! We both used to work at the JCC of Atlanta. I wasn’t even full-time yet, and he had just started as an athletic coordinator. We met in August but were just friends and said ‘hey’ as we passed by. That December, we were both at the JCC Hannukah event, and I walked in late because I had another event for work before that, and since I worked there, I just walked in, and they didn’t give me a drink ticket. As I walked to the bar, I saw Zak there. He said hi and asked if I needed a drink, and I said yeah. But they didn’t give me a ticket, so he went behind the bar (like he owned the place) and told the bartender to make me a drink!” That day, our couple just talked about how neither of them wanted to work the next day.

The next day at work, Paige asked Zak if they could grab lunch together, but he had to leave to pick up a friend at the airport. “And I totally remember thinking, well, he has a girlfriend,” Paige chuckled. After stalking him on Facebook (which she admitted to being one of her favorite things to do), Paige made her next move when she had to go to an NBA game with her friends and Zak was the hookup for tickets from their partnership at work. She hinted that Zak could also join them, thinking that he would understand that she was asking him out. But that didn’t work! However, Paige is no quitter! Our lovely bride told us that she still didn’t lose hope and invited Zak for a night out with friends. Later, she messaged him on Snapchat and directly asked him if he liked her. She told us, “It was awkward for everyone, but we got past it.” After this, they exchanged phone numbers, but Paige added, “To this day, I have that Snapchat message saved!”

And after all this, they finally went on a first date. “We went on our official first date on March 4, 2016, to Main Event, and he won in bowling, but I kicked his butt in laser tag!” she told us, adding, “After four and a half years of dating, we (he) finally decided to move forward and start looking for houses. On our way back from the closing, Zak called his grandpa on speaker, and he asked when we were announcing the engagement, and Zak was like, “Ahhh! Poppy, you’re on speakerphone. I gotta go.” I cracked up because it was hilarious!

The morning after our couple moved into their house, Zak asked Paige if she was sure about spending the rest of her life with him. “I said, “Yeah, why?” and he said he got me something. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! AND here we are!” Paige told us. Zak, we have to say, you know how to surprise a woman.

Secret Gardens Miami Wedding Photography

Our couple’s wedding was as exciting as their love story. The venue, Secret Gardens Miami, provided such gorgeous backdrops. It had several photo ops, and neither I nor my couple could stop ourselves from taking pictures. Secret Gardens was all about luxury with a hint of a tropical flair influenced by the waterfalls, palm trees, and natural coral arches. We had done an engagement session here before and were immensely impressed by the venue. And it was no different this time. We’d totally recommend Secret Gardens Miami for engagement photography and weddings.

The wedding decor was so tasteful, and the florals were fresh and exquisite. Our bride’s bouquet was made of wooden flowers, and it was so unique! While everything was going smoothly, somehow, the wedding rings got left behind in the bridal suite. But one of my favorite moments from this wedding was when a family member stepped in to lend their rings for the ceremony. It was so heartwarming to see that kind of love and support for my couple.
